TEHRAN (IQNA) – A Palestinian was shot and killed by Israeli forces Wednesday after he allegedly rammed his vehicle into a checkpoint and stabbed a police officer there, Israeli police said.

Police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld claimed the attack took place near the settlement of Maale Adumim, east of Occupied Jerusalem al-Quds, and a sweep of the area found a pipe bomb at the scene. The Israeli policeman was moderately wounded, he said, AP reported.

Such Palestinian attacks on Israeli police and military positions in the West Bank have been a frequent occurrence in recent years but have tapered off significantly in recent months, especially since the outbreak of the coronavirus in the region pushed many indoors.

Human rights groups have repeatedly slammed the Tel Aviv regime for its shoot-to-kill policy as a large number of the Palestinians killed at the scene of attacks did not pose any serious threat.

Israeli troops have on numerous occasions been caught on camera brutally killing Palestinians, with the videos going viral online and sparking worldwide condemnation.
